Program Overview

Our youth program is designed to:

  • Get your child excited about exercise to inspire a lifelong love of fitness.
  • Give your child self-confidence and the belief that he or she can achieve anything!
  • Teach your child to move well to help him or her avoid injury inside and outside the gym.
  • Strengthen bones and muscles and promote healthy nutrition to fuel optimal development.
  • Provide valuable leadership experience
  • Develop teamwork skills

All of our kids coaches and assistants have completed the CrossFit Kids Trainer Course and passed a background check.

Group Classes

We currently participate in an ongoing strength & conditioning program for teen athletes 13-18 at Gantry Kids & Teens in Long Island City.

Youth Athletes

Youth Athletic Camp

Each August, the Brooklyn Barbell Club (BBC) hosts a strength and conditioning camp with a focus on Olympic Weightlifting for youth athletes.
This camp is designed to:
  • Introduce and improve strength and conditioning for NYC youth
  • Introduce teens to the sport of Olympic Weightlifting
  • Provide a supportive environment in which teens can develop a strong sense of purpose and achievement
  • Identify athletes who have the potential to compete in Olympic Weightlifting at the national or international level

The following is included:

  • 30 hours of coached small group training lead by USA Weightlifting Advanced Certified Coaches
  • Daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • Two afternoons of NYC sight seeing and local events
  • Commemorative t-shirt
2016 Youth Athletic Camp will take place from August 21st-28th, 2016.
Youth Athletes


Athletes MUST attend at least 4 tryout sessions and show a commitment to the program in ordered to be considered for camp.  The 2017 tryout schedule will be released spring 2017.

Camp and Scholarship Application

We are happy to be able to provide scholarships for the 2016 Youth Athletic Camp through Steve’s Club NYC.  
Scholarships provide an opportunity for at-risk, socio-economically disadvantaged youth to develop into stronger and healthier individuals, both physically and mentally.  Our goal is to provide kids with a supportive environment in which they can discover what they’re capable of: pushing themselves to work hard and strive for something greater.  
Ultimately we have seen this positive athletic outlet translate into achievement in both the athletic and academic spheres: our scholarship program alumni have gone on to represent us in Youth Nationals and University Nationals, in addition to successfully completing high school and moving on to college.
